The ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (Icfai), a non-profit educational society established in 1984 under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 F (Act No.1 of 1350F), with the objective of imparting training in finance and management to students, working executives and professionals in India.
The ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand is included in the list of universities maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, vide their letter No. F.9-26/2003 (CPP-I) dated July 22, 2005. The Distance Education Council (DEC) has approved the programs of the ICFAI University, Dehradun.

The ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in Engineering, Law, Management, Education, etc. These courses include BTech, BCA, BSc, BA, BCom, BBA, BA LLB, LLB, B.Ed, MTech, LLM, MCA, MBA, and PhD. Besides this, ICFAI Dehradun offers a few distance learning courses via its Directorate of Distance Learning, including distance BBA, BCA, MBA, and MCA. Applications can be submitted for admission online as well as offline. The university considers candidates’ merit scores and performance in PI for UG courses. For Law courses and some of the PG courses like MBA and MTech, candidates must have valid scores in the qualifying national-level entrance exam.
The ICFAI University’s library has a collection of 24,179 books, 62 journals, 33 magazines, 09 newspapers, 2516 CD/DVD. The library facilities are open to all student and faculty members and are continuously updated with the latest books and journals. The library also contains directories, industry reports and statistical compilations that provide timely and concise information or project work.
Amenities provided are 24 hr power back up, Wi-Fi facility, sports and recreation facilities, mess, first-aid, washing and transportation to and from University. Tie up with local dispensaries/ doctors has been done to take care of emergency medical care for the inmates.
